Lost an Uber Receipt? Recover the Trip PDF and Check the Journey
Find a missing Uber ride receipt in Activity, download or resend the original, and organize confirmed travel charges without guessing.

A missing ride receipt often starts with an email you cannot find. Before rebuilding the journey from a card statement, check the completed trip in your own Uber account. The original trip record gives you a better starting point than a remembered fare.
This guide covers recovering a rider receipt and organizing travel records. Tax invoices and employer acceptance can have separate requirements; confirm those with the appropriate provider or reviewer.
Recover the receipt from the completed trip
Uber's official trip-receipt instructions describe this app workflow:
- Open Activity and choose the completed trip.
- Check the route, pickup and destination to identify the journey.
- Open Receipt for the price breakdown.
- At the bottom, choose Download PDF or Resend email.
If the message is missing, Uber recommends checking spam or junk and verifying the account email in Settings. Use your own account and the receipt controls available for that trip. Screens and wording can vary; consult official help if the options differ.
Match the journey, not just the amount
Two trips can have similar prices. Compare the travel date and route with your calendar or other records before attaching a receipt to an expense entry. A ride to a client meeting and a personal ride later that day should remain separate, even if the totals happen to match.
Review what the recovered document actually shows. Do not estimate a missing fare component or label an unexplained card charge as a tip. If a detail remains unclear, keep a note of the question and use official support for the selected trip. CMR does not retrieve Uber account data or resolve fare disputes.
Keep the PDF and email connected to one trip
Open the downloaded file and confirm it is readable before relying on it. Store it with a short filename such as the travel date, merchant and a neutral trip label. Keep precise pickup addresses and other personal details inside your private records rather than a publicly shared filename.
A resent email and a downloaded PDF can document the same journey. Add them as sources for that trip instead of creating two expenses. If a later document changes the amount, retain both versions and note which one supports the current record; do not edit the original PDF to make it match your spreadsheet.
Example: two rides on the same travel day
Imagine your recovered receipts confirm $28.40 for a morning ride and $19.60 for an evening ride. These are editorial examples, not quoted Uber fares. Keep two entries, each attached to its own source. Their combined total is $48.00, but a daily total alone would hide which journey each charge belongs to.
If only the morning receipt is recovered, mark the evening document as missing. A statement may support a payment amount without explaining every component of the ride. Leave unsupported details unresolved and keep the statement alongside your recovery notes. Ask the recipient what evidence they require before submitting anything for reimbursement; recovery or acceptance is not guaranteed.
Organize confirmed details in CMR when needed
If the original cannot be recovered, the CMR editor can help arrange confirmed information in a personal record. Replace example names, addresses and amounts, and leave unknown fields blank. A CMR-created record is not an Uber-issued receipt. Preserve the original evidence you have and keep the record's source clear in your own files.
With applicable paid export access, summary CSV helps sort reviewed travel records by date and merchant. Itemized CSV and Excel/XLSX can organize supported charge details where available. Records Export covers up to 10 receipts; eligible pass or subscription access offers other export options. A Clean Receipt file purchase alone does not include CSV/XLSX access. Review confirmed structured amounts before exporting: moving or editing printed text does not automatically change numeric data. See CMR help for the export workflow.
For another part of the same journey, our hotel receipt recovery guide explains how to look for the hotel-issued folio. Keep the hotel and ride sources separate, even when they belong to one trip folder.
