Use this guide to create a receipt record, set the correct date, save it to CMR Vault, organize duplicates, and export your expense data.
Start with the receipt-making workflow, then decide whether the record should stay local or be saved to your private CMR Vault.
Open Create Receipt, choose a receipt style and paper width, then work through Receipt data. Add the business name, address, date, payment method, line items, totals, and any receipt details that you know. The live preview updates as you edit. Use only information you can honestly provide for a real transaction; leave unknown details blank or mark them as unknown.
Yes. The editor autosaves a working draft locally in your browser, so you can begin without signing in. Local drafts are tied to that browser and device. Sign in and choose Save to CMR Vault when you want an owner-scoped cloud copy that you can access again from your account.
Set the receipt style and width first, enter the merchant information, add line items and prices, choose the payment method, then review tax, tip, fees, total, and receipt details. Set the canonical Purchase date before saving. Confirm the final merchant, date, amount, and payment details describe the real transaction you are recording.
CreateMyReceipt creates a user-controlled receipt record and printable presentation for a real transaction. It does not verify a merchant, bank account, tax filing, or payment, and a paid clean export does not become a merchant-issued original.
CMR Vault uses one canonical date for sorting, filtering, reports, and exports. Printed date controls are separate presentation settings.
The CMR Vault DATE column uses Payment → Purchase date. This is the canonical transaction date stored with the receipt, shown in ISO format such as 2026-09-12, and used by year organization, date filters, expense reports, CSV files, and XLSX workbooks.
The preview may be showing an upper-right date or item-area date that was typed as presentation text. Those fields can change what prints without changing the canonical Purchase date. To make CMR Vault, reports, and exports show September 12, open Receipt data → Payment → Purchase date, set it to 2026-09-12, and save the receipt.
In CMR Vault, click Edit date on the row, choose the correct date, and click Save date. The receipt keeps the same Receipt ID and moves into the correct year/day grouping after the Vault refreshes. You can also open the receipt, select Receipt data, expand Payment, and change Purchase date. If you typed a valid numeric date into the upper-right or item-area printed date, use the nearby “Use this printed date for CMR Vault” action to copy it into Purchase date. Wait for the saved confirmation before exporting or sharing.
Duplicate creates a new receipt with its own Receipt ID while preserving the source fields, including its Purchase date. Change the duplicate’s Purchase date if it represents a different transaction. Changing only the CMR Vault name, upper-right date text, or item-area date text does not change the stored date.
CMR Vault uses a stable year-month-day format so records sort consistently across languages and time zones. The preview can use your printed date and time preferences. The format is different, but both refer to the same Purchase date when the presentation fields are left automatic.
Use clear names and canonical dates so your CMR Vault remains useful as your receipt collection grows.
CreateMyReceipt saves a local draft while you work. Signed-out users see “Draft saved on this device ✓.” Signed-in users may first see “Saving to CMR Vault…” and then “Saved to CMR Vault ✓” only after the server confirms the Vault save. If Vault sync fails, the editor says that the local draft is safe and does not claim a cloud save.
Save receipt saves the current record and keeps you with that receipt. Save & add another saves the current record, then opens a fresh receipt entry so you can continue creating another one. Saving locally and saving to CMR Vault are separate destinations shown by the available action and your sign-in state.
Find the row in CMR Vault and click Rename. Enter an organizing name such as Client lunch - September 12, then click Save or press Enter. The label is CMR Vault-only. The merchant and canonical Purchase date remain unchanged.
The Receipt ID distinguishes records that have the same merchant, date, or amount. It is useful when you duplicate a template, edit a copy, or select records for an expense report. The CMR Vault shows a short ID and keeps the full ID available in the detail view.
After duplicating, immediately change the new Purchase date if it represents a different transaction; you can do that from the editor or directly with Edit date in the CMR Vault row. Give it a descriptive CMR Vault name, keep the merchant field accurate for the transaction, and use the Receipt ID to confirm which record you opened before editing or deleting it.
CMR Vault records are owner-scoped and remain available to signed-in accounts under their account quota. Active monthly Unlimited expands structured-record capacity to 10,000 while access is active or in grace. It does not make saved records disappear when a pass expires, a subscription changes, or a purchase is refunded, subject to the account and service terms.
CreateMyReceipt uses a local recovery draft and, when you are signed in, a private CMR Vault copy. Watch the save indicator before leaving a receipt that took time to create.
After you edit, the current receipt draft is written to this browser and device. The draft includes receipt data such as the merchant, Purchase date, payment, items, tax, totals, and receipt details, plus presentation choices such as layout order, custom text, separators, logo settings, logo placement, font type, and 80 mm print weight. This local copy is a recovery draft; it is not the same as a confirmed CMR Vault record.
When you are signed out, Save receipt saves the current record locally on this device. When you are signed in, Save receipt sends the current record to your owner-scoped CMR Vault and also keeps the local copy; the free account quota applies unless an active monthly Unlimited subscription expands the structured-record quota. Save to CMR Vault is the explicit cloud-save action. Save & add another waits for the current save before opening a fresh receipt.
Local autosave happens as you edit. For a signed-in user, the editor also schedules a CMR Vault save after a short pause and attempts to preserve the latest local draft when the page is hidden or closed. A cloud request can still be waiting on the network, so use the visible status as confirmation rather than leaving while it says Saving or Cloud save pending.
A local draft depends on one browser’s site storage and can be lost if that storage is cleared, private browsing ends, or the device fails. Signing in and saving to CMR Vault gives the receipt an owner-scoped cloud record available from your account, keeps saved templates and receipt history separate between users, and lets the service protect stored assets with its ownership and access controls. Sign-in does not make a user-created receipt merchant-issued.
Wait for the status beside the Edit and Preview tabs to show “Draft saved on this device ✓” for a local save or “Saved to CMR Vault ✓” for a confirmed cloud save. If it says Saving, Saving to CMR Vault, or Cloud save pending, remain on the page or use Save receipt again after the request finishes. If it reports a cloud failure, the local draft may still be safe, but do not assume the Vault copy changed until the success status appears. Browser Back and closing the tab are recovery safeguards, not a substitute for confirmed Vault saving.
Undo is in Layout & wording. It reverses the most recent design-editor change in the current editor session, such as moving a printed section, showing or hiding a section, changing its alignment or size, adding custom text, or adding a separator. It keeps up to 20 recent design states and has no separate Redo button. Undo itself is a new edit, so wait for the save status again afterward.
Undo does not delete a CMR Vault record, undo a Save receipt or Save to CMR Vault request, or restore an earlier cloud version. It also does not reliably reverse ordinary Receipt data changes such as merchant fields, Purchase date, items, prices, tax, payment, logo upload, or the CMR Vault name. To correct those, edit the field directly or reopen the saved record and save the correction.
No. The design Undo history belongs to the current editor session and is cleared when you reload, start a new receipt, or switch to another receipt. Reopen the record from CMR Vault, make the needed correction, and save it again. Use duplicate when you want to preserve the original before making a major change.
Choose the output based on what you need next: a receipt presentation, a data table, or a grouped expense report.
In CMR Vault, select the records you want and choose the available report or export action. For multiple records, use Multiple Receipts when you need to review a selected set before creating an expense report, summary CSV, itemized CSV, or XLSX workbook.
A clean receipt is a printable receipt file for the selected record. CSV, XLSX, Google Sheets copy, and expense reports are data-organization outputs. The data exports keep the merchant and Purchase date fields used for bookkeeping; they do not turn a user-created record into merchant verification.
Use summary CSV for one row per receipt and quick expense review. Use itemized CSV when you need individual line items tied back to a receipt total. Keep the receipt total row separate from item rows so spreadsheet totals do not double-count the same purchase.
Download the CMR Expense Workbook, then open it in Excel or import it into Google Sheets. Review the Dashboard, Receipts, Line Items, Monthly Summary, Categories, Merchants, and Payment Methods tabs. The Purchase date and merchant fields should be checked before you share the workbook.
Use Copy data → Google Sheets when available. Open the blank sheet, select cell A1, and paste. On desktop use Ctrl+V; on Mac use Command+V. If clipboard access is blocked, download the XLSX workbook and use Google Sheets File → Import → Upload.
Exports use the canonical Payment → Purchase date, not a CMR Vault name or custom printed date. Return to the editor, update Purchase date, save the receipt, reload CMR Vault, and create the export again. If you only changed a presentation date, the export is correctly retaining the stored transaction date.
The live preview is designed for review. Paid access affects eligible clean exports, not the truth of the underlying record.
The editor preview includes the Live Receipt Preview and CreateMyReceipt watermarks so the preview is clearly a preview. Paid clean exports may remove visible preview marks when the verified entitlement allows it; the preview itself keeps its watermark.
No. Payment grants the eligible export or report capability. It does not rewrite the merchant, Purchase date, line items, or saved record details, and it does not make a user-created record merchant-issued.
The success page waits for the verified Stripe webhook before releasing a clean file. Keep the local Stripe listener and app server running during local testing, then use Refresh payment status. Do not pay again just because the first verification is still pending.
Stay signed in to the same account and return to the same receipt. CreateMyReceipt now checks the server for an already-paid clean purchase that exactly matches the current immutable receipt revision, then restores access without starting another checkout. If you changed the receipt after paying, the edited version is a new revision and needs its own purchase; the original paid revision remains protected.
The app waits for the export job to reach Ready, retrieves the file bytes, and then shows “Download started” with the filename. Check the browser Downloads folder as the final device-level confirmation. If the download fails, use the same button again; the export request is idempotent and does not create another charge.
The account control shows your active membership badge, such as Unlimited or 7-Day Pass. The account and billing screens also show the subscription or pass state and, when available, the expiration or renewal information.
The new access starts immediately after payment is confirmed. Earlier one-time purchases and any time remaining on a 7-Day Pass are not automatically converted into credit, refunded, paused, extended, or prorated toward the new plan. If you start the monthly Unlimited plan while a 7-Day Pass is active, monthly billing begins immediately and the two access periods overlap.
Most date and duplicate issues are caused by editing a presentation field instead of the underlying receipt data.
If you changed Receipt name for CMR Vault, you changed only the organizing label. If you changed Upper-right date text, you changed only printed presentation. To change the CMR Vault row, edit Receipt data → Payment → Purchase date to 2026-09-12 and save.
That text is in the merchant field, not the CMR Vault label. Open the receipt, edit Header → Business name to the correct merchant name, and save. Renaming the CMR Vault record alone will not alter the printed receipt.
A local draft is saved in the current browser, while a cloud record requires Save to CMR Vault while signed in. Reopen the record from CMR Vault, confirm the field values, save explicitly, and reload the CMR Vault row. Avoid private browsing or clearing site storage if you need to keep local-only drafts.
Only enter the optional last four digits when needed for a record. Never enter a full card number, security code, PIN, or banking password. CreateMyReceipt is not a payment processor and should not be used to store sensitive payment credentials.
Confirm the canonical Purchase date, merchant, payment method, line items, tax, total, and CMR Vault name. If the record came from an upload or another specialized workflow, also review its source details. Make sure the record describes a real transaction, unknown information is not invented, and the recipient understands what the record represents.
