Lost a Sam's Club Receipt? Find and Save Your Purchase History

Recover a missing Sam's Club receipt through Purchase History, check the right shopping trip and organize confirmed household purchases.

A person reviews a purchase-history screen while unpacking unbranded groceries and household supplies

A faded paper receipt does not have to be the end of your search for a wholesale purchase record. For a Sam's Club purchase, begin with the original account history. Recover the merchant's document before trying to reconstruct a basket of groceries or household supplies from memory.

Find the original in Purchase History

Sam's Club's official purchase-history guidance says to sign in, open Purchase History and filter by date, purchase type or returns. Locate the purchase, open See details, then use Print receipt to print or download a copy. The guidance also points to the Sam's Club app.

For records 2.5 years or older, it directs members to contact support with their membership number, name and requested timeframe. Check that official page for current request terms and availability; do not assume every record will be recoverable.

Use the account associated with your own purchase. If you cannot find the transaction, write down the dates and purchase types you checked before contacting official support. CMR cannot access your membership account or retrieve Sam's Club receipts.

Check which shopping trip you found

Repeated purchases of paper towels, drinks or pantry staples can look similar. Match the date and the supported item details before deciding that a receipt belongs to the missing trip. Compare the total with your payment evidence, but do not treat a matching total alone as proof that you found the right basket.

If the paper is only partly faded, preserve it and photograph the readable portions now. Keep that image alongside the recovered account document. A readable product label or a current shelf price cannot establish what you paid on an earlier date.

Save a copy you can open later

Open the downloaded document to check that the item list and totals are readable and complete. Give it a useful filename, such as purchase date, merchant and a short label for the shopping trip. Keep membership numbers and payment information inside private storage rather than in publicly shared filenames.

Store the source separately from your working spreadsheet. If you later correct a category or add a note about an item, make that change in your working record instead of altering the original receipt. Keep return documents connected to the relevant purchase without overwriting its starting amount.

Example: recover the basket before comparing costs

Imagine a recovered receipt confirms a $24.00 pack of household supplies and $36.00 in pantry items. These are editorial examples, not Sam's Club prices. Keep the supported item amounts and the receipt's confirmed total; do not invent tax, discounts or other lines to fill a gap.

For a personal budget, those items can belong to separate categories while remaining one shopping trip. If a second source is only a card statement, attach it to the same purchase rather than counting another expense. If you want a per-unit comparison, first confirm the package quantity from surviving evidence; a pack price without its quantity does not establish a unit price.

Use CMR for supported personal records

If recovery remains unsuccessful, the CMR editor can help organize details you can confirm in a personal record. Replace sample merchant, address and item text. Leave unknown details blank and preserve your sources. A CMR-created record is not a Sam's Club-issued original and does not guarantee acceptance for a return, reimbursement or another requirement.

With applicable paid export access, summary CSV helps sort reviewed wholesale purchases by merchant and date. Itemized CSV and Excel/XLSX help group confirmed basket items into household categories for your own comparisons. Records Export covers up to 10 receipts; a Clean Receipt file purchase alone does not include CSV/XLSX. Review confirmed structured amounts before exporting. Editing printed wording or moving a field does not automatically update numeric data. See CMR help for export steps.

Shopping at another warehouse? Our Costco receipt recovery guide explains a separate merchant workflow. Use the recovery instructions for the store where the actual purchase occurred.
