Returns: keep the original receipt first
An original receipt helps identify the purchase and original payment method. Return eligibility and exceptions depend on the item; check Walmart’s current conditions before starting a return.
Paid with a debit or credit card?
Check Walmart Purchase History or its receipt lookup tool. Have the store location, purchase date, receipt total, card type and last four card digits ready. Follow Walmart’s official receipt retrieval steps.
Paid with cash?
Keep your original paper receipt: card-based lookup does not cover cash payments. If it is missing, contact Walmart about your options. Cash purchases do not mean every return without a receipt is automatically prohibited.
Can Walmart accept a return without a receipt?
Walmart describes a no-receipt process requiring government-issued photo ID and return verification. Options can include an exchange or Walmart gift card, subject to acceptance and applicable conditions. Read Walmart’s official no-receipt return guidance.
Design and organize a personal record
Use CMR to customize an example for business, education or personal recordkeeping with confirmed details. A CMR-created receipt does not replace Walmart’s original proof of purchase or guarantee return acceptance.
